Energy stocks continue to catch a bid after crude oil broke out of a bullish double bottom pattern on Wednesday. So far, on average, stocks are reacting well to earnings season, even though the numbers are less than stellar. So far, the clear standout winner is Netflix ($NFLX), which enjoyed a HUGE breakaway gap today after announcing a large increase in subscribers last qtr. Panera ($PNRA) also gapped up after the company increased their buy-back plan and said they are selling a bunch of company-owned cafes to franchisees. Financials are in play as the XLF (financials ETF) looks to be emerging as it bounces off its 50 DMA line. In other news, three new IPO’s began trading: Party City ($PRTY), high frequency trading firm, Virtu Financial ($VIRT), and ETSY ($ETSY) Inc, a large online marketplace for home-made goods. We will be watching these stocks for you and letting you know if/when they put in IPO bases in the near future. As always, we will have a full report for you this weekend.
